Allah… Aku sedar ya Allah…

Have We not given him two eyes, And a tongue and two lips, And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways?
But he would not attempt the uphill road, And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is?
(It is) the setting free of a slave, Or the giving of food in a day of hunger To an orphan, having relationship, Or to the poor man lying in the dust.
Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. [Qur’an 90:8-17]

By the time. Indeed, mankind is in loss. [Qur’an 103:1-2]
InsyaAllah may the next three weeks spent back home in Singapore be filled with ibadah and a continuous pursuit for knowledge *glances excitedly at stack of books*, ameen, ameen Ya Robb.

Don’t let all your months worth of struggle to change here be washed away in a matter of days back home. Protect your imaan, ukhti, protect your imaan.

InsyaAllah…

And tafakkur is the focus and movement of the heart and mind through the meaning of things in order to reach the underlying intention, and by this, the pearls of truth is reached.

[Imam al-Hadad]

The ‘aql is what distinguishes man from other creation of Allah swt; but do we utilize it the way it’s supposed to be? Or… are we not even using it in the first place? :)

Sometimes just BEING around people who love the Prophet s.a.w. makes you understand Islam more than memorising books of fiqh :’)
Alfun syukran Hanis’s mum and brother, and Ameerah’s mother and uncle, for driving my friends and I all the way to Putrajaya for the Maulidur Rasul and Haul! :)

However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?

Reminds me of a nasihah that my cousin studying in Al-Azhar left me with the first time I moved to KL, “Al-ilmu bila amal kassyajr bila thamar...”,  ya’ni:

‘Ilm without actions is like a tree without fruits.

Something I try my best to remember every single day, insyaAllah.

Pastor Membakar Qur’an

(First, read the news article here.)

Tetapi kalau saudara-saudara menyembah Allah, maka sesungguhnya Dia tetap hidup selama-lamanya!”

….

Hmm, benarkah yang aku katakan tadi?

Adakah benar, jika Qur’an kesemua dibakar, Qur’an akan tetap terus hidup di dalam hati Ummah? Adakah benar, jika Qur’an sebagai mushaf tidak lagi ada, diriku ini dapat menghidupkan kembali Qur’an dengan kata-kataku, dengan akhlakku etc?…

Sesungguhnya masih jauh lagi.

Kita kembali.

The Wise

Salamualaykum,

Rasulullah Salallahu ‘alayhi wasallam said: “O Muslims! Sit with your elders, question the scholars, and meet wise people.” [Tibrani, Mishkat]

In other words, one should benefit from knowledge at every opportunity. Elders have life experience from which one may benefit. We should sit with them to benefit from their experiences and also to provide them with company. Scholars have religious knowledge from which one may learn. Asking questions is a way in which we can learn from them.

Besides elders and scholars, Rasulullah Salallahu ‘alayhi wasallam advised us to keep the company of the wise. The wise are those whose destination is Paradise. Whoever ends up in the Fire will consider himself/herself to be the most stupid of people. They may have been Nobel laureates in this world but when they get to their final destination they will realize how they had wasted their brains and will say:

وَقَالُوا لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِي أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

“Had we but listened or used (any of) our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!” [Quran 67:10]

The scholars and the wise are those who have the awareness, love and fear of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).

How should we recognize these wise people whose destination is Jannah?

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says that the wise are:

1) Those who forbid others from doing wrong: “Why were there not, among the generations before you, persons possessed of balanced good sense, prohibiting (men) from mischief in the earth.” [Quran 11:116]

2) Those who practice what they preach: “Do you enjoin righteousness upon mankind while you yourselves forget (to practise it)? And you are readers of the Scripture! Have you then no sense?” [Quran 2:44]

3) Those who give every preference to the life of the Hereafter and spend their life working for it: “Naught is the life of the world save a pastime and a sport. Better far is the abode of the Hereafter for those who keep their duty (to Allah). Have you then no sense? [Quran 6:32]

4) Those who believe in the message brought by Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam): “The likeness of those who disbelieve (in relation to the messenger) is as the likeness of one who calls to that which hears nothing except a shout and cry. Deaf, dumb, blind, therefore they have no sense.” [Quran 2:171]

Although everybody has something to teach and something to learn, the harm of the foolish, ignorant or frivolous person is more than their good. Time is a precious commodity that should not be wasted in useless chatter. For a capitalist, time is money. For a Muslim, time is much more precious than that. It is our Jannah or Jahannum. Our never ending life depends on how we use it.

A wise person is one who learns from his experiences, while the wiser person is one who learns from the experiences of others. This hadith is telling us to be the wiser person and learn from the experiences of our elders, the scholars who fear Allah and the wise.

[Link] Masih Selamatkah Membaca Akhbar Tempatan?

Just something personal for me to reflect on as I sign the form to confirm my major in Mass Communications (Journalism)….

Allahu, please let me see truth as truth and let me act upon it, and please let me see falsehood as falsehood, and bring me away from it so that I may avoid confusion. Please let the words I write speak for me and not against me on The Day when I am held accountable for every single atom of good or bad that I have done during my stay in this dunya. Ameen, ameen Ya Robb.

If you do remember death and prepare for its coming, you will know endless joy when death arrives. Whereas if you are complacent and procrastinate, death will come to you at an unforeseen moment and you will know regrets without end.

[ Imam Ghazali ]

Hence, a good gauge of your imaan is the feelings that boil in you when the mention of death arises… Ya’ni, are you looking forward to reuniting with your Beloved, or are you terrified of all the things to come? You don’t really have to wait for the Books of Deeds to be passed to you for to guess where will your eternal abode be; just look at the mirror and ask the one who looks back,

“What have I done that pleased Allah today? And what have I done that incurred His wrath?”

Judge yourself first, before the Day of Judgement comes before you.

For during that day, And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance? He will say, “Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life.” [Qur’an 89:23-24]

True Happiness

As the sweet distinct smell I have missed the past few months filled the air and embraced my jubah, I found a smile beginning to etch on my face as my heart leapt with happiness in my chest.

Ahead, all I could see were the backs of men in white, head to toe, bodies swaying in unison to tunes of the qasidah and selawat. Surrounding me, were women of all ages. Most wore niqabs while others chose to wear their children who made their mother’s body their playground, but all… all with nur and smiles that shone from their eyes. SubhanAllah…

I then wondered… If being surrounded by a tiny group of lovers of Rasulullah s.a.w. in a small majlis at a tiny surau hidden in a nondescript lane in a tucked-away corner of Kuala Lumpur can make my soul feel so at rest, just how would this soul feel being in the company of Rasulullah s.a.w. and his companions during the hereafter? And how would this soul feel at being able to see the One Who Created?

Allah… Allah… I cannot imagine it!

And then it struck me, that as long as this wretched soul remains full of love for this dunya, as long as this wretched soul stubbornly refuses to do away with her nafs, there is no chance in the world that that can ever happen. How could something so dirty ever hope to meet someone so pure, so clean, so perfect…

Ya Rasulullah! Ya Habiballah! Prayers with peace sets out for the moment that we meet, O Beloved, InsyaAllah :’)

Alhamdulillah… Thank you Allah for reminding me, for giving me what I needed to continue this journey, and for surrounding me with a group of akhawati who never fail to inspire me - each in their own unique way.

Allah, Allah Ya Rasulullah! Inna solati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wamamati lillahi rabbi ‘alameen, insyaAllah! :’)
